Thanks very much to everyone that took an interest in and supported our student essay competition across the universities and colleges across Scotland, in particular those that took the time out of their busy study schedule to submit an entry.
We received lively and interesting entries that engaged with the question:
‘Are there more effective ways than prison to reduce reoffending among women in Scotland?’
The standard was high and the judges had differing opinions but in the end they selected Hannah Forrest as the winner of 1st prize and Kirsty Morris as runner up.
Hannah is a 4th year Bachelor of Laws with English Law (Hons) Student at the University of Aberdeen while Kirsty is in her 2nd year of study in Law(LLB) with Business and Management at the University of Glasgow.
1st prize was £150 high street vouchers the chance to spend a day with a leading professional in the criminal justice field while 2nd prize was £75 high street vouchers.
Congratulations to both students and well done to all who entered. The judges were impressed with the overall standard of discussion and strength of arguments.
